Program Description

Kieser University's Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing is designed for registered nurses and focuses on the critical thinking, leadership, management, research, physical assessment and health promotion across several community-based healthcare areas. The curriculum offers registered nurses an inclusive understanding of the cultural, political, economic and social issues that have emotional and impact on patients and influence healthcare delivery.

Program Objectives

The Program Objectives designed to satisfy the mission and objectives of Kieser University are as follows:

  • To cultivate critical thinkers that are ready to productively take on rational inquiry by using the nursing process in both commonly seen clinical situations and in more rare clinical situations
  • To improve skilled healthcare providers who are prepared to provide a higher level of nursing assessment in their direct or indirect care of ethically, culturally and/or spiritually diverse patients and their families
  • To develop effectual teammates of healthcare who are equipped to work in a leadership capacity to design and manage the care of individuals and their families
  • To create caring and therapeutic communicators who are able to make use of broadened tools of communication in providing the comfort and self-determination of patients and their families
  • To develop nursing professionals who practice nursing within a legal/ethical boundaries

Prerequisite for major courses

  • Record of good health signed by student, background check and drug screening where applicable
  • Proof of graduation from an associate degree nursing program or a diploma-nursing program
  • The following lower division courses must be successfully completed with a minimum "C" grade prior to starting upper division major courses.

Program Outline

A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, is comprised of 60.0 upper division credit hours. You are required to pass all courses with a "C" or better to continue with the program. Here are the requirements of the program. You must pass all lower division major and general education classes before you can take upper division courses.
