Program Description
The program of Associate of Science in Diagnostic Vascular Sonography of Kieser University combines didactic, clinical and laboratory exposures. Students are prepared by the program to work as sonographers at an entry level. Vascular sonographers are highly skilled professionals trained to provide patient services utilizing diagnostic procedures under the supervision of a licensed doctor of medicine or osteopathy. Sonographers gather data that is useful to physicians in making a proper diagnosis.
Program Objectives
The following objectives were created to link Kieser University's mission and its objectives.
- To create students who are educated in vascular sonography
- To prepare students to carry out suitable physiologic, two-dimensional Doppler and other non-invasive vascular procedures and record data for interpretation by a physician
- To prepare students to present themselves in a professional and ethical manner as entry-level sonographers
- To create students who are well versed in ultrasound/vascular physics and instrumentation
Prerequisite for Major Courses
- Students must sign a statement of good health, as well as pass a background check and drug screening, where applicable
- Students must achieve the completion of lower division general education courses with a grade of "C" or higher in each course.
- Students must maintain a cumulative grade average of 3.0, on a 4.0 scale
Program Outline
To be granted an Associate of Science degree in Vascular Sonography, students must successfully obtain 88.5 credit hours. Courses must be accomplished with a grade of "C" or higher to advance to the next course in the program.
*Terminal degrees, such as our Associate of Science degree, are not transferable.
