Associate of Science degree in Nursing
Program Description
Kieser University provides students the opportunity to receive an Associate of Science degree in Nursing. This degree offers students a chance to practice professional nursing. Professional nursing entails gaining substantial specialized knowledge, assessment and nursing skill based upon applied principles of biological, physical, psychological and social sciences.
The duties of a professional nurse includes but is not limited to:
- Observation
- Assessment
- Nursing diagnosis
- Planning
- Intervention
- Health Care Evaluation
- Counseling of ill persons
- Injured or infirm promotion of wellness
- Maintenance of health
- Prevention of illness of others
- Administration of treatments and medications
Program objectives
Kieser University does all that is required to reach their goals in allowing their students to:
- Properly communicate by using the written and spoken word
- Make use of critical thinking in problem-solving situations
- Work well with healthcare teams and patients
- Gain nursing skills, including observation, assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation
Kieser University aids in finding entry-level employment as nurses.
Prerequisite for Major Courses
- Pass the Nursing Entrance Test (NET)
- Complete a one-on-one interview with the Nursing Program Director
- Provide statement of good health to be signed by the student
- Provide a background check and drug screening when applicable
- Must have a grade of "C", or higher, for all general education courses
- Total, overall GPA should be an average of 3.0 or more on a 4.0 scale.
Program requirements are as follows.
Associate of Science degree in Nursing is a total of 72.0 credit hours. Individual courses in the Nursing major are required to be passed in the recommended order since each is a prerequisite for the subsequent course. Grades should never fall below a "C".
An Associate of Science Degree is considered a terminal degree and is not transferable.
