Program Description
Kieser University's Associate of Science degree in Histotechnology prepares students to perform laboratory studies of tissue. The program includes the study of cellular morphology, chemical composition and the functions of normal and abnormal tissue. An extensive understanding of tissue composition is acquired while the students study the composition of dyes and chemicals.
Histology technologists have numerous choices of practice settings: hospitals, for-profit laboratories, clinics, public health facilities, industrial research, veterinary pathology, marine biology and forensic pathology. Electronic microscopy and immunohistochemistry are two of the areas in which we specialize.
Program Objetives
Students are succeed as entry-level graduates that can prove to be successful when they enter the workforce as histology technologists. They will possess the know how to prepare the microscopic, stained specimens for the diagnosis and prognosis of disease by a pathologist, express skills in critical thinking and provide documentation. Upon completion students are qualified members of a healthcare team.
