Program Description

Kieser University's Associate of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography offers students the combination of didactic, laboratory and clinical experiences. Following completion of the program, sonography students can begin an entry-level position. Sonographers perform highly skilled tasks and are qualified to offer patient services by means of diagnostic techniques under the supervision of a licensed doctor of medicine or osteopathy. Sonographers aid physicians in collecting data to allow diagnostic decisions to be determined.

Program Objetives

Kieser University is committed to the following objectives designed to meet both the University's mission and the students' professional preparation.

  • Encourage an advanced understanding in general sonography
  • Preparation in performing proper two-dimensional, Doppler and other sonographic procedures and record data for interpretation by a physician
  • Preparation to demonstrate professionalism and ethical manner as entry-level sonographers
  • Encourage comprehension in ultrasound physics and instrumentation

Prerequisite for Major Courses

  • Proof of good health to be signed by the student, background check and drug screening
  • Completion of lower division general education courses with no less than a "C" average in each course
  • Collective grade average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Program Outline:

An Associate of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography can be obtained when a total of 91.0 credit hours are completed.

Take Note: An Associate of Science Degree is non-transferable because it is viewed as a terminal degree.
